Storytelling Competition of the National Speakers Association – March Chapter Meeting

Want to witness what makes up a winning story? This month’s chapter meeting (IN A NEW LOCATION!**) will showcase 3 of our Storytelling Finalists who were brave enough to share their 5 minute videos and have a chance to make their way to the main stage at the National Speaker’s Association INFLUENCE conference taking place in Denver in August.

You’ll learn what criteria were used to assess the talks, what made their talks compelling, and you’ll help us choose a finalist with your cheers and applause!

Then, some remaining members (we’ll pick names out of a hat!) will have a chance to get on stage and play Speaker Karaoke! This game, also known as Battle Decks, invites a speaker onto the stage, presents a random slide that the speaker has never seen before – and then the speaker gives a 2-3 minute presentation on that slide.

This is a fun way to practice comfort and fluency on stage, plus get some laughs in!

Our goal as a chapter is to help you figure your way onto as many paid stages as possible – and providing this stage opportunity for practice is something that we know provides experience that boosts your confidence, and shows your fellow speakers what you’re capable of – which increases referability! 

We can’t wait to play on the stage with you at what is promising to be our MOST FUN chapter meeting of the year!

 NSA Storytelling Competition:

3 finalists from our first ever storytelling competition will share their winning entries from the stage, and one of them will be crowned the NSA NYC Storytelling Champion! Come celebrate our finalists’ success and learn from the judges feedback.

The 3 finalists were selected from the NSA’s Storytelling Competition created by professional speakers for professional speakers.

Competition occurs on three levels: Chapter, Regional, and National.

Competitors are scored on three tracks: Marketability, Impact, and Presentation.

Chapter Competitions occur in January, February & March.
