Key Takeaways from Our January 2020 Meeting

If you are like most of us in the NSA, you are always seeking to perfect your speech or presentation.  There is always something more you could have added, some feature you could have included, another angle that would have made the audience understand your mastery of the subject a bit more.  Seeking out these presentation enhancements is why you (should) attend monthly NSA meetings (and Influence too).

What is diversity?

According to Webster: the condition of having or being composed of differing elements:  VARIETY especially : the inclusion of different types of people (such as people of different races or cultures) in a group or organization.

Every month when I attend NSA-NYC meetings I am struck by the diversity of our members and guests.  We come from different walks of life, we are from different cultures, we have unique business backgrounds and of course we have diverse opinions on the world around us.  Each of us has a different idea about what diversity is and how it plays a role in our lives each day. It’s what our meetings are all about.

Key Takeaways from Our September 2019 Meeting

As always our emcee for the meeting was Jeanne M. Stafford.  Jeanne always has a pre-planned exercise to get us mingling with fellow attendees.  At this meeting, we needed to find out what our exercise partners do on their website’s back-end to help move their speaking business forward.  These exercises have the dual function of getting to know someone new and to think on our feet.   They are also a great way to get your heart pumping.

Just imagine…

For a nominal fee: you could attend a meeting where you’d meet creative, like-minded individuals, who share your passion for public speaking, where you could hear some of the very best public speakers in the business and be inspired on a regular basis by the volunteers who run the NSA NYC Chapter.

Key Takeaways from May’s Chapter Event

If you were present at the NSA NYC chapter meeting in May then you know just how important it is to be in attendance.  Write-ups and summaries no matter how detailed simply cannot capture the essence of the meetings.

Anyone familiar with the NSA NYC chapter knows that nothing (other than the weather) is ever left to chance other than who attends our meetings. Rather, the meetings are carefully cultivated and the speakers we are lucky to have exposure to, are experts in their chosen corners of the industry.

Key Takeaways from April’s Chapter Event

On Friday, April 5th I had the pleasure of attending the NSA NYC chapter meeting at Serendipity Labs. I got some really great ideas about how to leverage media coverage when the lightning strikes from Kate O’Neill as well as how to best engage an audience from Steve Spangler.

Key Takeaways from March’s Chapter Event

Some speakers educate us on the finer details of the speaking business.  Some speakers entertain us with their storytelling and mastery of their subject matter.  A gifted few speakers know how to do both so seamlessly that you aren’t sure whether you are being entertained or educated. If you missed our March 8 NSA NYC chapter meeting, well then you truly missed out on some of the finest “edutainers” in the business.

Key Takeaways from February’s Chapter Event

What a meeting this was! When you have the opportunity to not only experience a great speaker in action AND get a chance to go behind the scenes to discuss the practice of being a great speaker, that is special and exactly what Dan Thurmon did for our February meeting.

Key Takeaways from January’s Chapter Event

January started out on a high note with an information packed day for speakers to grow their businesses.

President, Sylvie DiGuisto kicked off the first meeting of the year at Serendipity Labs, a new co-working space with large rooms and easy networking. As a bonus, Serendipity Labs offered all our members a free one week pass to try out this space.

Key Takeaways from November’s Chapter Event

Do you attend NSA NYC meetings with your “rose-colored glasses” officially on? I do.

I am always upbeat and optimistic about who I am about to meet and what I am about to learn.

Our November meeting was especially “Rosy” thanks to the agenda and NSA NYC’s President Sylvie di Giusto ’s snappy rose-colored suit!
